| Merryl Cool is a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota and lived outside Detroit and in New York City
before settling in Atlantic County, New Jersey. A Smithville resident, Merryl Cool has participated in several local juried shows and won awards for her acrylic paintings notable for their bold use of color. Awards have included Best of Show, First Place Award, and Juror's Award. She is currently preparing for a one-person art show at the Ocean City Art Center in Ocean City, New Jersey, to be held in March 2006. Merryl began creating art in 1978 at a pottery studio in Flint, Michigan and continued to work in this artistic medium for several years. She started painting in acrylics eight years ago and her current body of work encompasses images of architecture, figures, landscape and still life. While Merryl's style continues to evolve, her goal is to create a bold work of art that resonates with her interpretation of the subject. She accomplishes this through the generous use of color, placement of highlights and shadows and use of line and form. Numerous teachers and influences have contributed to Merryl's artistic journey. Their encouragement, inspiration and generous guidance have been invaluable. |
